These terms govern your use of StepOne (the “app”). By downloading, installing, or using StepOne, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
StepOne is published by MorSo and built and maintained by a single independent developer, Ziye Gao (“we”, “us”, “our”). There is no separate company or support department behind the app — it’s a one-person project, and the contact address below reaches the developer directly.
StepOne is also open-source software: its full source code is public at github.com/gzyjason/StepOne, licensed under the MIT License. You’re welcome to read the code that runs on your device, verify how it behaves, or fork it for your own purposes, subject to the terms of that license. The MIT License governs the source code itself; these Terms and Conditions govern your use of the StepOne app and any services (such as sign-in and Trip sync) it connects to.
StepOne is a walking app that helps you track distance and progress toward Trip milestones, organized by categories you choose. Some features work fully offline; if you create an account, your Trip progress can sync across devices via Firebase. Reminder notifications, when enabled, are scheduled locally on your device.
We may add, change, or remove features over time. We don’t promise the app will always work exactly as it does today.
You must be able to form a binding agreement to use StepOne, and it is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your country’s law). If you create an account, you’re responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the activity that happens under your account. Let us know at support@morso.one if you believe your account has been compromised.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data that removes.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms.
Any Trip progress, category choices, or other data you generate in the app remains yours. By syncing it to our servers (if you’re signed in), you’re only granting us the technical ability to store and return that data to you — we don’t claim ownership of it, and we don’t use it for anything beyond providing the app’s features, as described in our Privacy Policy.
StepOne relies on third-party services — including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Sign in with Apple, and Google Sign-In — to provide sign-in and sync features. Your use of those features is also subject to the respective providers’ own terms of service. We aren’t responsible for the availability or behavior of services we don’t operate.
StepOne is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. As a free, independently developed app, we don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or accurate — including the distance, milestone, or progress data it shows you. Don’t rely on StepOne for anything safety-critical.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of StepOne — even if we’ve been advised of the possibility of such damages. Because this is a free app maintained by one person with no dedicated support infrastructure, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount (if any) you paid to use it.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it can’t be limited under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app or your violation of these terms.
You can stop using StepOne at any time by deleting the app, or delete your account as described above. We may suspend or discontinue the app, or your access to it, at any time — for example, if you violate these terms, or if we’re no longer able to maintain the app or its backend services. As an open-source project, the source code itself will remain available under the MIT License at github.com/gzyjason/StepOne regardless of whether the hosted app or its backend services continue to operate.
We may update these terms as the app changes. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above. Continuing to use StepOne after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. The current version is always available at stepone.morso.one/terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information StepOne collects and how it’s used, and is incorporated into these terms by reference.
